So here’s Hitler shilling for shampoo brand, Biomen and reminding you that if you’re not the kind of guy who wears women’s clothing, then you shouldn’t use a women’s shampoo [loosely translated from the Turkish]…
Yeah, I know some people are outraged but frankly I don’t see why. If we can all laugh at the Hitler Bunker meme, why can’t we laugh at this ad (other than the fact that it’s as funny as herpes)? It’s not a good ad, at all but it’s also not the worst I’ve seen. Take for example this piece of genius from the good folks over at Sylvania Light Bulbs in Thailand…
I got nothing.
Those nutty Germans are at it again.First it was the whole “are you having sex with Hitler” thing, which I personally thought was a pretty good solution (oh shut up, you wooly-wearing Mother Grundy)…
And this time it’s Rammstein, the East German rock band and their made-for-tv album promos. No really. What you’re about to see is one of the four spots, which is DEFINITELY NSFW (if you’re 12 and you work for some nanny-type organisation…then again if that was true, you wouldn’t be reading this blog anyway).
Shock-value is all it is. And now that the promise has been made, let’s hope the album lives up to all this hype, lest this be consigned to the heap of premature wad-shots like so much cheap porn.
Have you ever wondered what shagging Hitler would be like? Me neither. But a German AIDS awareness agency thought it would be an apt metaphor for unprotected sex.
YouTube pulled the video of the ad (self-censorship or something more sinister?), so I can’t link to it – but here’s the official poster.
One Night In Berlin...
Personally, I have no problem with the comparison. In fact, I’m hoping they’ll do more follow-up ads (they’ve already done Stalin and Saddam), maybe with Dubya, Robert Mugabe and the Taliban – who are all notorious for screwing people over.
If you’d like to view the collateral from the full campaign (including the video ad in question), click here.
So this clip from a German movie about Hitler has done the rounds. So far, Hitler’s been banned from Facebook (and WoW), reacted rather negatively to Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer out of Man United and hated on the Stormers (the rugby team, not his private army).
But my favourite is this one: No Twitter for Hitler.
Have an awesome weekend!
