Someone on Twitter (I forget whom) asked: “What’s the most important thing when it comes to relationships?” I sat and thought about it for a while and eventually came up with this answer: value.
Relationships are based on value: what you get and what you give. And this is true across personal and professional relationships. No-one works for a company where they give more than they get. No-one stays in a relationship with someone else where they’re taken for granted. No-one hangs out with friends who take advantage of them.
Of course, there are exceptions. There are some who don’t know how to escape a toxic relationship or may even enjoy being the only party in the relationship that contributes anything. How else do you explain celeb-following on Twitter? Or the hordes of Liverpool fans?
SO… How much value are you getting from your relationships? How much value are you putting in? Audit your life and cut the chaff.
